Red hair, don’t care!

Question: My boyfriend and I have been together for about 6 years. About two years ago I toyed with the idea of dying my hair red, but my boyfriend hates the colour red and said he would be less attracted to me if I changed my hair colour. I was disappointed as I thought red would really suit me, but I let it go as I prefer short hair for men and he accepts this and keeps his hair short.
In the last few months though he’s started to grow out his hair and it's getting quite long. I’ve told him a few times that it’s starting to get long, and recently he has snapped at me saying he can do whatever he wants with his hair. I snapped back saying if he can do that, then I could dye my hair red, and that led to an even bigger argument. What should I do?

Dear Red,
Go dye your head red! In fact, dye your hair whatever colour you want! Want to know why? Because it’s YOUR hair! And if your boyfriend wants to grow his hair longer, then he should too, because it’s his hair!
You both should have enough respect for each other to do that and not fight over it. You shouldnt be dying your hair to get back at him and vice versa.
Your boyfriend sucks too by the way. It’s not cool that he can do what he wants, but then argue when you want to do what you want. And if he’s that way about hair I can't imagine what else he is odd about. The double standard is real.
Lastly, you both should sit down and work out what your real issues are, because if you are arguing over hair length and colour then you have bigger issues.
